Meet the Founders: Josh & Sarah Weaver

Josh and Sarah Weaver’s journey to parenthood wasn’t what they expected. After years of battling infertility, neither traditional adoption nor continued treatments felt like the right path. What remained, though, was a deep desire to become parents and to make a difference. In May 2016, they opened their home as foster parents — committed to supporting family reunification whenever it was safe and possible for the child.

Since then, they’ve fostered over 27 children and adopted five, building a beautifully blended family through faith, love, and resilience.

Foster care didn’t just change their family — it changed their calling. The Weavers transitioned from careers in church ministry to full-time nonprofit work serving vulnerable children and families. Josh now serves as a Fatherhood Engagement Specialist at Man Up and Go, and Sarah is the Director of Major Gifts at One More Child.

In 2017, Sarah was asked to have her church sponsor Christmas gifts for 45 foster children in Hillsborough County. What was meant to be a one-time event quickly grew — 96 children were sponsored that year thanks to overwhelming support from their church and community.

As foster parents themselves, Josh and Sarah saw firsthand the lack of consistent support for not only foster children, but also the caregivers and professionals walking alongside them. That need birthed Christmas for Fosters, which has grown year after year, delivering joy and dignity during what can be a difficult season.

After six years of expanding programming and community partnerships, Sarah and Josh launched Give Joy Collective in May 2023 as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. Through it, they’ve continued to champion foster children, foster families, biological families, and child welfare professionals — making sure joy, hope, and tangible support show up year-round.

Our vision is to give joy to those who need it most.

Our mission is to collaborate with communities by providing intentional opportunities to support the emotional and mental wellbeing of foster children and those who serve them.
